September Skincare & Beauty Favorites

September Favorites

If you follow me on Instagram, then it isn’t hard to figure out which products I have been crushin’ on in the month of September! Today I am sharing my favorite skincare and makeup products! Plus, the earrings I have been wearing nearly everyday! There’s a lot of new products that I have been testing out and a few products that are older, but have been on my ‘Wishlist” for a very long time! Needless to say…they did not disappoint!

Skincare Favorites

Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil
Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil, 6.7 oz./$30.

Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil-(6.7 oz/$30 at Sephora)Biossance is a new brand at Sephora, and has only a few products available. The line is based around the oil, Squalane, which I happen to be a huge fan of! Anyone with oily or combo skin will appreciate its dry texture and non-greasy finish. This is a very thin, fluid oil cleanser that has a slight, fresh scent that is not too overpowering. It destroys any trace of makeup, dirt, spf without much effort. If you have ever used Squalane before, you can definitely tell that it is included in this cleanser. It has the same thin, dry texture. This cleanser has a lot of slip that glides on skin easily. Here’s the part that makes this product a stand-out for me, it rinses away with water only! No need to use a flannel (wash cloth) to remove. Plus, did I mention, there is no residue left behind? It’s fantastic. Skin feels clean, while still hydrated and smooth. I plan on writing a proper review on this cleanser (where I will include a full list of ingredients,) so I don’t want to share too many secrets! But it is definitely worth trying out!

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist
Aqua (Hungarian Thermal Water), Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Saccharomyces (Hungarian Thermal Water) Ferment Extract, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Mannitol, Malpighia Punicifolia (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Chlorella Vulgaris/Lupinus Albus Protein Ferment, Pectin, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Water, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Water, Phospholipids, Yeast Extract, Linalool, Geraniol, Citronellol.

Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist, Limited Edition (1.7 oz/$50 at Sephora, Cult Beauty, Omorovicza or Look Fantastic) This neroli and rose-scented facial mist is like Heaven! I definitely see why it has a cult following. It has such a fine mist, wheras your skin never feels ‘wet.’ You are left with skin that feels fresh and hydrated. I will admit, this mist is addicting!  I am using it several times a day. Surprising that the bottle isn’t closer to empty. Made with Hungarian Thermal Water, the Queen of Hungary mist is very hydrating and adds to the soft and smoothness of my skin after using the Biossance cleanser. Plus, look how gorgeous the packaging is! I have been on a facial mist craze this past month and bought three shamefully expensive mists at the same time; The deMamiel Skin Dewy Facial Mist and the Molecular Saviour Mist by Allies of Skin. I reach for the Queen of Hungary over the other two every time. It is expensive for the size of the bottle, but if you feel inclined to splurge, this mist is definitely worth it in my opinion!

Allies of Skin 1A All Day Mask
Allies of Skin 1A All Day Mask

Allies of Skin 1A All Day Mask (1.69 oz/$89 at b-glowing, Cult Beauty and DermStore) This “mask” has been on my wishlist for a while, and the purchase was completely inspired by others on IG who have been singing its praises for months! It did not disappoint! It is basically a daytime moisturizer jam packed with peptides, caffeine, niacinimide, hyaluronic acid at different molecular weights, and many other antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients.  This mask “fortifies your skin’s defenses against harmful pollutants in the atmosphere while reversing tell-tale signs of stress and fatigue.” Allies of Skin also boasts that it is “Clinically proven to reduce acne lesions by 36% in 28 days.”  It has a gel-like texture that feels weightless on the skin. For those with drier skin who need a little more moisturizing, Allies of Skin recommends adding a few drops of a facial oil to the mask before applying. Its moisturizing properties are enough for my combo skin, and I appreciate that it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin. The thing I love the most about this product is that it has taken the place of a few of my serums I would normally use in the morning, like Niacinimide and Hyaluronic Acid. Having to use one less product is definitely appealing to me, not only for time’s sake but also because it is one less layer! It has a slightly tacky finish, not in a bad way I promise, that allows it to act perfectly as a makeup primer.

Maya Chia The Super Couple Ultra Luxe Face Oil Serum

Maya Chia The Super Couple Ultra Luxe Face Oil Serum (1 oz/$86 at The Detox Market and MayaChia.com) With a base of chia seed oil and the antioxidant superstar, Astaxanthin, this facial oil targets multiple skin concerns like dull, tired, aging skin. I was originally attracted to this oil because it claims to have an “ultra lightweight formula that rapidly absorbs.” I am new to the world of using facial oils on my combination skin, but a lightweight oil that absorbs quickly is definitely on my list of qualifications for a face oil. Maya Chia delivers on this promise. Inside a black glass dropper bottle is a red-orange, magical oil. The smell is somewhat intoxicating, like a mixture of essential oils. I only use a few drops and pat the oil onto my face after applying a nice mist, like the Queen of Hungary. My favorite way to use this product is to tap a tiny amount underneath my eyes in the morning before makeup. My under-eye area is very dry and if not properly hydrated can look very crepy after applying concealer. While initially I used this oil to hydrate the area, I have definitely noticed the skin underneath my eyes looks brighter. I obviously am not throwing away my concealer anytime soon, but this oil has definitely improved my skin and that’s why this little gem is a favorite!

Paula's Choice Resist Advanced Pore-Refining Treatment 4% BHA

Paula’s Choice Resist Advanced Pore-Refining Treatment 4% BHA (1 oz/$36 at PaulasChoice.com) So I may be cheating a bit right now because I haven’t used this product for the whole month of September. Let’s call it an honorable mention! This product is a new release from Paula’s Choice. How exciting, a new acid! So when you use an acid, like salicylic acid, you know pretty quickly whether or not that acid will work for your skin. And let me just say, It works! This is a powerful, yet gentle, time release Salicylic Acid serum with a whopping 4% BHA! It is a clear gel consistency that dries very quickly into a weightless finish. It also contains antioxidants and skin soothing ingredients, making it a power-house product. I use 2% BHA quite frequently, but my pores have never been clearer! This is next level BHA exfoliation.

Beauty Favorites

There are 3 clear winners for me in the makeup department this month and they are all new products! One is from an entirely new beauty brand, Fenty Beauty!

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer (0.3 oz/$18 at Sephora) I bought into the hype of the newest celebrity beauty brand, Fenty Beauty. I ended up purchasing the only lip product the brand released and have being wearing it everyday since! Fenty’s Gloss Bomb comes in only one color, a rose colored gloss with golden shimmer. Marketed as “the nude that looks good on everyone,” I would have to agree. Everyone that I have seen wearing this gloss looks gorgeous.  The applicator is a thick, wide doe foot that is reminiscent of Tarte Shape Tape concealer, which makes applying the gloss quick and easy. The smell is addicting, like a candy I can’t put my finger on. The brand says it’s peach vanilla. The gloss is very shiny and smooth, not tacky at all. The lipgloss is very hydrating while it is on, but I don’t notice any lingering hydrating benefits. The story is Rihanna wanted to “create a perfect gloss that makes you want to put it on over and over again.” For me, she succeeded!

Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High-Intensity Refillable Lipstick
I Wish

Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick (0.03 oz/$34 at Sephora or Net-a-Porter) This lipstick is reminiscent of the 1920s era cigarette holders that women use as a fashion accessory. Hourglass is blurring the lines of fashion much like flappers did with their cigarettes, only with a much healthier choice; lipsticks.  The packaging alone on this lipstick is to die for, but the product inside is gorgeous. The packaging is high quality and heavy, but better yet the lipstick can be changed out to other colors the brand offers. The refills, bought separately without the gold packaging, are $22 each. The lipstick itself is very pigmented and has a beautiful satin finish. Because the tip is so small, application can be very precise, getting very close to the lip edge unlike regular lipstick bullets. I have the shade ‘I Wish’ which is described as a neutral nude. The color is gorgeous and is very comfortable to wear. With 30 different shades to choose from, I will definitely add more colors to my collection! My only complaint is–I wish it contained more product!

Dior Diorskin Forever Undercover Concealer ($34 at Sephora or Harrods) I’m picky about concealers, once I find the right formula for me, I use it everyday. So I don’t try every new

concealer that is released. I really like the Diorskin Forever Foundation, so I decided to try out their concealer too. This concealer is a very lightweight, thin concealer that has medium coverage. Definitely enough for me on a daily basis, and enough to cover my dark circles. It is so easy to blend, I actually blend it out with my fingertip. The thing I love about this concealer the most is that it looks natural, like skin. A lot of concealers claim to look like skin, but you can obviously tell its makeup. Not this one! Also, it doesn’t crease, and it stays put all day. I do set my concealer with a tiny bit of CoverFx Perfect Setting Powder, but I don’t think this concealer needs to be set. Dior checks all of my picky boxes when it comes to concealerso it is my new go-to for the foreseeable future!

Other Favorites

Nickel & Suede Camo Suede Leather Earrings ($25 at NickelandSuede.com) I Nickel and Suede Earringshave a rapidly growing collection of these statement earrings, but Camo Suede is my new favorite.  All of their earrings are unbelievably lightweight, you forget that you are even wearing them! I love these earrings because they are an easy way to dress up any casual outfit. The brand was created by a lovely blogger, One Little Momma. I love supporting small businesses, especially one owned by a fellow blogger! I definitely urge you to check out their website. They have different styles, sizes and tons of patterns and textures. There really is something for everyone!

Thank you Miro! It is sometimes hard in the beauty industry to filter out all the noise, to figure out who is being genuine and who is saying something for money. It’s very sad. I definitely started this blog as an outlet for me to voice my passion for skincare and beauty, and I am glad you can see that! I am so happy to have you as a reader!
