If you are visiting This Country Girl for the first time, welcome! I’m Heather, fellow beauty junkie, #instablogger, mom, wife, and skin blogger. I love talking about makeup, but my true passion is in the products we put on our face to improve our skin! I struggled with breakouts, and really congested skin up until my mid-20s when I started learning about products and ingredients that significantly improved my skin. I’m a work in progress! Just thought I would lead with that because I have noticed many new readers, and I’m happy you’re here. ;0
So we update our closets every Spring to get ready for the warmer weather, why not update our skincare routines too? Skin often changes with the weather, so new or different products are needed for a Spring Skin Refresh!
So you’re ready to update your routine, where do you start? And which products from Sephora are really worth it??
Today I’m going to reveal my skincare recommendations for the Sephora Spring VIB Sale. I’m really picky about which products I buy from Sephora for my skin. There’s a lot of hyped products that are bestsellers that I would never put anywhere near my face! Which is a whole other post in itself. I have found some real gems from Sephora and am going to share those with you today!
You can also read my tips for shopping the Sephora sale along with all other details in my Sephora Spring VIB Sale 2018: Everything You Need to Know.

No Sale Would Be Complete Without…
No sale would be complete without a slew of recommendations for Drunk Elephant. Drunk Elephant is a very effective, yet pricey skincare brand that I have been using since early 2015 when I first tried TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. I have slowly grown my collection of DE products and it’s safe to say, I’m #drunkinlove!
Speaking of TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum, it easily earns an award for one of my top acids, of which I have many! To be honest, I prefer TLC over Sunday Riley Good Genes. That may not be a popular opinion, but I have to be honest! Years ago I noticed everyone talking about Good Genes so I wanted to learn more for myself, without the hype. That was back in my early days of learning about skincare and my trusted source for product reviews was Beautypedia. They didn’t give Good Genes a glowing review and pointed out some very good scientific points about the formulation that made me not want to try it. Fast forward a few years later, and I finally got my hands on a sample. Two actually. I used the entire tiny bottle up and just wasn’t that impressed. While I didn’t find the product irritating, I have achieved better results with probably six or seven other chemical exfoliants that I own. TLC being among them. I still have part of that tiny second sample left and I am not rushing to use it up, so Good Genes is a pass for me. TLC all the way!
So my newest Drunk Elephant obsession is their newer launch, Protini Polypeptide Cream. 2017 was the year of peptides, any peptides for me. And no, you don’t have to have aging skin to use peptides, everyone’s skin is aging anyway! Tick, tock. I would recommend this product for literally anyone with skin! It is light, cool and refreshing. It has a lightweight finish that is perfect for combination or oily skin. It also is nice when I add a couple of drops of facial oil, which will work beautifully for extra moisture for those with normal to dry skin. The texture of Protini is lovely, but so is its ingredients and way it makes my skin look and feel. My skin is radiant, and so plump when I use Protini during the day. It just gives my skin an overall healthier appearance and it feels oh so soft. You can read my full Protini review here. If I had to pick a top product I would recommend before all the others, Protini would be it!
I will talk about a few other DE products throughout this post, but honestly when it comes to Drunk Elephant, you can’t go wrong.
Edible Beauty is an Australian green beauty brand that is new to Sephora. The first week they launched I was torn on which product of theirs I wanted to try first and eventually decided on No. 1 Belle Frais Cleansing Milk. I will admit, this is the first cleansing milk I have ever used so I have no comparison point, but this cleanser is really nice! I am addicted to the way it makes my skin so freaking soft. Now I definitely want to explore their line and add more of their products to my stash! At first, it felt like I was cleansing my skin with conditioner. Then I finally figured the best way to use this milk is to wet my fingertips and massage in this milky cleanser. It turns from a lotion type texture on dry skin to ‘milk’ when activated with water. It rinsed away with water only and leaves my skin soft and smooth, but definitely clean. It has a light scent, nothing too overpowering and comes in a huge 6.8 ounces/200 mL black miron glass bottle. Luxe. I have been using this cleanser nonstop ever since it showed up on my doorstep, so it is worth checking out! Those with normal to dry skin will definitely appreciate the texture! By the way, this brand is available online only.
I wrote about the Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil in my last Sephora Recs post so I won’t go into too much detail. It is an oil cleanser that destroys any and all makeup, spf, and dirt at an affordable (for Sephora) price point. (6.7 oz./200 mL for $30.) It is a workhorse cleanser that is in a never ending plastic pump bottle. I apply this oil cleanser to my dry face and massage in. I then splash off with water, no wash cloth needed. It leaves no residue behind, just smooth, soft, clean skin. The only complaint I have is that if you get it in your eyes it stings a bit. It’s not unbearable, but perhaps a drawback. It is lightly scented with essential oils so if you are sensitive to EOs I would recommend Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil or Balm. They both are gentle, fragrance/essential oil free.
I am so impressed by the Biossance products I have tried so far, I would definitely love to try more from the brand! Plus, all of their products are based around the ingredient Squalane, which I love! A new release from Biossance that has caught my eye is the Squalane + Micronutrient Fine Mist. Should I add it to my list for the sale? Definitely! The ingredient list is fantastic and I love a good face mist.
Let me start this off with my newest Drunk Elephant obsession, C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. I have been ranting and raving about this gel cream eye treatment on Instagram for weeks, they’re probably sick of seeing it pop up all over my feed! The texture of C-Tango is very similar to Protini, an airy, lightweight gel-cream texture that glides across skin like silk! No, really. It’s fantastic. But beyond the way it feels refreshingly cool upon application is the way it makes my tired, dry under eye area look and feel. I performed a beauty test that you can read all about here in which I applied C-Tango to one eye for a few days. I really didn’t anticipate to see any life changing results, but I was pleasantly surprised to notice some change. Perhaps a change so small it can only be highlighted when covered with dry concealer! My eye area that was treated with C-Tango was visibly smoother and plump. Encouraging enough for me to continue using C-Tango religiously and write this recommendation! Please do check out my C-Tango post if you are interested in this product!
The Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel is a lightweight, yet hydrating, gel that kept my dry under eye area hydrated this winter! It was my go-to but has currently been replaced with C-Tango. It doesn’t have Vitamin C for brightening like C-Tango does, but still a great option in my opinion. It contains peptides and caffeine along with hydrating ingredients to smooth the under eye area. It has a great texture that performs beautifully under makeup and feels very refreshing to apply. It also is housed in a pump, which is fantastic! It is slightly less expensive than C-Tango at $54 for 0.5 ounces of product.
Funny story, I had the Erno Laszlo Multi-Task Eye Serum Mask in my cart ready to be purchased during the upcoming sale when I received it in a PR package a few weeks ago. The company had contacted me months ago about trying out a few of their new launches (of course I said yes!) and I honestly thought they forgot about me! Well I’m very glad they didn’t because I am loving these eye masks, and no I’m not just saying that because they were sent to me! The package comes with six pairs of one-time use hydrogel eye patches “to tackle the major signs of under eye dark circles, puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles.” Now I don’t know about tackling dark circles, I don’t think there is a product that can tackle my hereditary dark circles. However they do reduce puffiness, hydrate and plump the skin under my eyes which temporarily fills in the fine lines that I have acquired over the last 33 years! I used the first few immediately and loved the results, now I am like hoarding the last two for a special occasion! haha. They fit nicely, don’t slip and slide around and feel nice and cool while wearing them. I leave them on for like 30+ minutes even though the recommended time is only 10 minutes. My only advice: use them in the morning, not at night! My first use was at night, I got my undereye area all nice looking…to go to bed. See what I mean? Next up I want to try their Hydrogel Face Mask…add to cart. 😉
I am skeptical of products that are only left on the skin for a short amount of time, do they have enough time to be effective? So sheet masks or regular wash off masks have to be really good for me to keep purchasing/using them! The Erno Laszlo Multi-Task Eye Serum Masks fall into that category. They contain glycerin, seaweed & algae extracts to hydrate, a high dose of niacinamide which will improve texture and brighten, Centella Asiatica extract which contains amino acids to soothe and protect the outermost layer of skin, and Allantoin to soothe and hydrate. A really impressive inci (ingredient list) in my opinion! Will I repurchase with my own money? Absolutely.
When I was writing my list of recommendations I didn’t even realize that I have three eye products included! But they all are fantastic products and I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t write about all three like I initially planned! Do you need all three? No. If you want a daily use product go with C-Tango or Biossance Eye Gel. However, I do see a boost when using the Erno Laszlo Eye Masks also. It’s just not a must to have all three. I will tell you, my eyes look fantastic right now thanks to these products! Seriously.
I have written soooo many posts on products from The Ordinary so I won’t go into any reviews for them today, you can search ‘The Ordinary’ on my blog and find all of them. I was hesitant to even include any of their products because they are always out of stock and also affordable without a discount! However, for anyone interested I will give you my top faves from the line they sell at Sephora. You can also purchase The Ordinary from their website which ships worldwide, and they offer many more product options beyond the ones sold at Sephora. Here in the States you can also purchase from Beautylish.

I love the Sephora Favorites sets and have found some great products that I never would’ve thought to try on my own! They often sell out online, so in my personal experience I have found them easier in stores. These are one of the items to purchase towards the start of the sale because they will probably sell out!
Give Me All The Sets!
Besides buying sets to discover new products, they are also a great value! Most brands are generous with their sample sizes, so you can determine whether a product will work for your skin. Trying sets has been my gateway into some higher end skincare brands like Drunk Elephant. I started by buying one of their mini travel sets years ago and the rest is history! I get a ton of uses out of Drunk Elephant deluxe samples, so I definitely recommend them. They even have a set, The Littles, that contains almost every one of their products. So you can try out the entire brand basically and get a cute little pink bag!
Omorovicza is a brand that I recommended in my tips for the Sephora sale post that is cheaper to buy across the pond. However, with the discount the prices will be close to the same. So if you decide to forego international shipping and buy Omorovicza during the Sephora sale, I will tell you my recs! I’m pretty sure Omorovicza has been around for a long time, but I only discovered their products in 2017. They are known for their amazing cleansers and masks, and of course their infamous Queen of Hungary mist is legendary for a reason! This luxury skincare brand is just that: Luxe. They are all like a spa-in-a-bottle. From their frosted glass packaging, attention to detail and fabulously scented products, their products actually do what they claim! The Omorovicza Deep Cleansing Mask was a fast favorite for me. It does just that “deep cleans” my pores without stripping out every ounce of moisture from my skin like most clay based masks. Known for cleansers, masks and of course their mist.
Every product I have tried from Omorovicza I have thoroughly enjoyed. My recommendation if you are new to the brand, buy a set. That’s how I started into the brand…it’s all downhill from there! They have a new set, the Travel Mask Trio, that I actually have on my own list to pic up during the sale. It comes with my favorite Deep Cleansing Mask, their super popular Ultramoor Mud Mask, and their new Midnight Radiance Mask. The jars are 0.5 ounces and I have used deluxe sized Deep Cleansing Mask at least ten times, and counting. The deluxe sizes are $30-$35 each, so this is a fantastic deal at $55 for three products. Plus the discount. Another set available from Omorovicza is the Omorovicza Heroes set which includes three products for $130. Considering it contains a full size Deep Cleansing Mask (retail $120) plus two 1 ounce products, I would say that’s a deal! Omorovicza is worth your consideration if you are in the mood for a skin treat + luxury. My friend Michelle, has a ton of great Omorovicza reviews on her blog, thebeautyendeavor.com. Definitely go check her out!
One More Set…
You may sense a theme already, but I have dipped my toe into luxury skincare by buying deluxe sizes and sampler sets for years! Nothing wrong with putting a brand on trial when they cost a pretty penny. That’s just smart! Another brand I bought trial sized products from way back in 2015 is TATCHA. Their products have a cult following for a reason, they’re good. I actually discovered TATCHA Dewy Skin Mist by accident on QVC before it made a big surge on YouTube and in the beauty mags. It gives my skin such a gorgeous glow. I love to mist it on my bare, tan skin in the summer and look like a glowing goddess! Well at least that’s the way it makes me feel. Haha. TATCHA has a few sets available, the one I have my eye on comes with a full size Dewy Skin Mist called the Instant Dewy Glow Set. They also have a few deluxe sizes available now on Sephora.com for select products. Definitely worth your consideration if you are in the mood for luxury!
These are the picks and a few things I have been eyeing myself, thank you so much for reading and visiting! I would love to see your wishlist and hauls if you post anything on Instagram, please tag me! You can always join me there for more beauty fun and make sure to let me know you came from the blog! 😉 @mybeautyful_journey
