Colleen Rothschild Gift Guide

Colleen Rothschild Luxury Skincare: A Brand Overview

The Holiday Season is here and everyone is scrambling to find the perfect gift for their loved ones. What better gift than luxury skincare? Today I am talking about Colleen Rothschild, a high-quality with great results skincare brand that I have never heard anyone speak ill of.

I have been exploring products from this new-to-me brand, Colleen Rothschild. I was first introduced to this brand early 2017 via Instagram by a very lovely lady, @antiagingamber. Her description of the Cleansing Balm blew me away and I had to try it for myself!

Colleen Rothschild is a skincare brand based in Dallas, TX. They sell skincare products and luxury candles.

“A sensory-rich beauty experience,” is how the brand describes themselves. I would say their products are a spa-like experience. Everything from the texture of the products to the packaging screams luxury. I dipped my toe by first purchasing their Cleansing Balm which I will describe in more detail in a moment. I then added three more products to my collection and am impressed with every single one. And yes, I do have more products I want to try from the brand!

Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm

Radiant Cleansing Balm

As the weather becomes cooler and drier here in the States, Radiant Cleansing Balm (100 mL for $65,) has become a go-to. I love everything about it. The scent is heavenly, the texture is dreamy, and it leaves my skin clean, soft, and well radiant! There are many things I love about this balm, the most important is its versatility. The balm can be removed with a face cloth, but also water can be added to create a milky goodness that rinses away with no residue. I also love to use this as a mask during a very warm shower to protect my skin.

My combination skin loves this cleansing balm, and I think most skin types will. It destroys makeup and sunscreen while leaving skin feeling nourished and soft. No matter how you use this balm, it is a skin treat. I have talked about this before on Instagramwhen I use this balm I feel like I am treating my skin to a spa night. The aroma, the texture, there’s just something about it that feels so luxurious.

Colleen Rothschild Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum & Retinol Supreme Night Oil

Retinol Supreme Night Oil

This is the newest addition to the Colleen Rothschild line, the Retinol Supreme Night Oil (30 mL for $85 USD.) I love Retinol in an oil formulation, love it. It feels nicer on the skin than most lotion-type or silicone textured Retinol products I have used in the past. I talk more about using a Retinol oil in my The Ordinary Retinol in Squalane post.

The oil is a beautiful blend of nine plant oils, stabilized Retinol, and a vitamin C derivative, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate. THD is an excellent addition to the formula because this derivative is stable, lipid soluble, and is known to help effectiveness when paired with other forms of Vitamin C and/or Retinol. The fact that it is lipid soluble, like our skin, helps this particular derivative to penetrate deeper than others. This is the same derivative used in The Ordinary’s Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F.

The nine oils included in the formula are Baobab, Cotton Seed, Tamanu, Palm Oil, Frankincense, Moringa, Evening Primrose, Argan, and Linseed Oils. Other notable ingredients that stand out to me is the addition of Astaxanthin, a high-powered antioxidant, and Vitamin E. As you can tell, there’s a lot to love about the Retinol Supreme Night Oil!

The Results…

I use the Retinol Supreme Night Oil most nights and am happy to report it is gentle enough to be used nightly (for me.) I believe a theme you will discover when using Colleen Rothschild products is ‘gentle without sacrificing effectiveness.’ They have really walked that fine line magnificently.

I use the Colleen Rothschild Beauty Water first, after all my other treatments or serums, then I apply the Retinol Supreme Oil. It was a bit tricky to pump out the correct amount, as the oil is very thin, but after a few uses I got the hang of it. One pump covers my face, neck and décolleté. It doesn’t absorb completely like other oils that I love, but those with dry skin will appreciate the additional hydration. For oily or combination skins, less is definitely more!

While I don’t want to attest to the long term results of this oil yet, I have been using Retinol in an oil formulation since May of this year and Retinol Supreme has maintained those results. This oil is a ‘Glow-Getter.’ If you have lost that sparkle in your skin or have dull, tired looking skin, this product is for you. My face the next morning is glowing and smooth, and not because there is oil leftover on my face. Adding a lower concentration Retinol more frequently to my routine has helped the overall texture and helped to even my skin tone, with none of the irritation and sensitivity of a higher concentration Retinol. Slow and steady wins the race!

Colleen Rothschild Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum

Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum

This is the Colleen Rothschild that I have the least experience with, but heard the most glowing (no pun intended ;)) reviews about. The Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum (30 mL for $75,) isn’t only an acid exfoliator, it is packed full of plant extracts and stable Vitamin C derivative (THD.) Making it a powerhouse of good-for-skin ingredients that slough away dead skin cells revealing fresh, new skin that looks brighter, smooth and glowing.

Of course the star ingredients that make this magic possible is Mandelic, Lactic, and Salicylic Acids. Yep, that’s right, Mandelic Acid Serum has other acids included. YAY!! Mandelic and Lactic Acids are known to be gentler acids than its sister, Glycolic Acid, while achieving the same results. Making this acid serum perfect for sensitive skin. I literally get the same glowing results when using this serum as I do when using my 8% Glycolic Acid. These two acids help to resurface the top layer of skin and also help other products penetrate more efficiently. The inclusion of salicylic acid is a welcome one, as it can actually penetrate the pore to remove dirt and debris (blackheads) and shrink enlarged pores. A combination of alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids is the best of both worlds!

Even though I have used this product the least, I know it is a winner! Every morning after I use this serum I wake up with soft, smooth glowing skin. It has never caused any irritation for me, in fact, Amber (@antiagingamber) has sensitive skin and she uses it every other night with no problems. It is another ‘gentle yet effective’ Colleen Rothschild product that could work for most skin types.

I like to think of this gift guide as more of a Brand Overview. I will definitely do a full review on the Mandelic Acid Serum and Retinol Supreme Night Oil once I have used them a little longer. I will include more information on each then!

Colleen Rothschild Beauty Water
Colleen Rothschild Beauty Water

Beauty Water

This may be a product that is easily glossed over by some, but it shouldn’t! Beauty Water (100 mL for $28.) is an “alcohol free toning mist.” To me, it is much more than that! It is like Josh Rosebrook’s Hydrating Accleratorit is hydrating, preps skin for other treatments, and is an experience. Like the Radiant Cleansing Balm, when misting Beauty Water on my face it is a spa-like experience. It smells so good! It contains all the hydrating ingredients one may look for in a serum, like; hyaluronic acid, cucumber and watermelon extracts, and coconut water are only a few. Beauty Water also contains skin identical ingredients to lock in moisture.

Beauty Water is an excellent hydrating mist. I use it after cleansing, before serums or oils, after oils, and during the day to refresh. It is a cool drink of water for my skin. Even if you don’t use a mist, or feel the need to use a mist, try this one. You’ll be hooked!
